Why are my teeth crooked or misaligned?

Baby teeth can become crooked because they’re small and they fill in gaps of small amount of gum space around them. The permanent teeth can change in time and look different because of the teeth next to them that can cause influence. It could be the jaw that can cause the teeth and bite to be far from normal as well. The upper teeth are meant to be a bit over the lower teeth and when this alignment doesn’t occur, it is most likely tat a malocclusion is involved. Malocclusion is the alignment that really causes the teeth to be crooked and in various positions that are far from normal.

How can I fix my crooked or misaligned teeth?

The most common ways that people choose to fight their misaligned teeth are retainers, braces or Invisalign.

Retainers: Retainers can be fixed, removable or even Hawley. The fixed retainers are attached with a dental cement that prevents them from shifting over time. Bad thing about them is that once in the mouth, it can only be removed by a specialist regardless if you feel pain or discomfort. On the other hand, it can easily help the patient’s bite and offer a long-term solution.

Braces: Braces are not only some of the most widely known but some of the most effective ways to fix crooked or teeth that are not correctly in place. They are usually effective with patients who are dealing with extreme or overcrowding cases (a lot of teeth or a lot of different shapes of teeth). Some of the most common braces are metal, ceramic and lingual.

Appliances: There are also various devices such as the Herbst appliance and Headgear that people try when battling crooked teeth. They focus on the jaw imperfections and work to get that fixed because fixing the jaw can fix the bite and the teeth placement.

Invisalign: Also known as clear aligners, they are transparent form of braces that can help the teeth adjust to their right placement. For the past few years, Invisalign has become a phenomenon in the dentistry because it offers a unique way to fix teeth and the patient can wear them and feel confident because they are invisible. It works just as well as the other braces and it can lead to the same effective results.  If you are dealing with crooked or misaligned teeth you need to discuss options with a specialist orthodontist. If you want something that’s uses the latest technology, then discuss using Invisalign.
